Blocks to Healing

It is the Lord’s desire to be healed. If a person has gone through deliverance and still suffering, then there are reasons which could be an open door. Jesus came to heal ALL disease. This is a checklist to check different areas of our lives to check to see if they are hinderances to not becoming healed or free.

A list of 47 reasons! This is not exhaustive but is a good way to examine one self.

1. Unforgiveness 2. Little Faith 3. Doubt and Unbelief
4 Flagrant Sin or Habitual Sin 5. No Intimacy or no relationship with the Father. 6. Sin you committed or family sins
7. Prayer and Fasting 8. Religious Spirit and Attitudes 9 . Limit God
10. Fear 11. Unscriptural Doctrines 12. Excuses
13. Complaining, Murmuring & Grumbling 14. Disobedience and not obeying instructions 15. Ungodly Attitudes Toward Leaders and Anointed Leaders
16. Ignorance or lack of knowledge. 17. Natural Means – Improper care of the body 18. Our Confession (Words)
19. Broken Spirit or Broken Heart 20. Hardened Heart 21. Negative Influences
22. Greed 23. Healing Can Be Delayed When We Forget the Poor 24. No Expectation
25. Not Being Honest and Transparent 26. Robbing God in Tithes and Offerings 27. Sin of Our Parents
28. The Need to See a Miracle 29. Looking for Signs and Wonders 31. Expecting God to Heal on One's Own Terms
32. Looking to Man Rather Than God 33. Sometimes the Sickness is Unto Death 34. Our Allotted Time in Life is Fullfilled
35. Looking to Symptoms and Not the Healer. 36. Not Discerning the Lord’s Body 37. Failing to keep our life filled up with God
38. Not resisting the enemy 39. Giving Up 40. Looking for Repeated Healings Instead of Divine Health
41 Rejecting Healing as Part of the Covenant for Today 42. Trying to Bypass the Penalty of the curse. 43. Past and Continued Involvement with Occutlsm
44. Motives 45. Not Honoring Your Parents 46. Envy and Jealousy
47. Accusation

Why do some people do not get healed mentally, spiritually, emotionally, physically (mind, body and spirit)? 47 Reasons Why and more! This is not an exhaustive list but it covers a lot of specific areas. The Lord gave us the Lord's prayer to examine our hearts. The reason to find anything hidden from ourselves so that we can make right.

Matthew 6:7-15 - 7But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.

8 Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him.

9 After this manner therefore pray ye: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name.

10 Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done in earth, as it is in heaven.

11 Give us this day our daily bread.

12 And forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors.

13 And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.

14 For if ye forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you:

15 But if ye forgive not men their trespasses, neither will your Father forgive your trespasses.

1. Unforgiveness

If we refuse to forgive, we are wasting our time talking to God on the subject to healing (mentally, physically, spiritually, emotionally). Body, Soul and Spirit.

When you read Mark 11 :25-26, there is a conditional scripture attached.

Mark 11 :25-26 says -25 And when ye stand praying forgive, if ye have ought against any: that your Father also which is in heaven may forgive you your trespasses. 26 But if ye do not forgive, neither will your Father forgive which is in heaven your trespasses.

God's forgiveness for you is in direct relationship to how you forgive your brother. Forgiveness from the Father is not a one-way street.

Add section that is shaded here

You are going to have to make peace in your heart with every person that you have ever known, and get that resolved before God.

23 Whose soever sins ye remit, they are remitted unto them; and whose soever sins ye retain, they are retained. John 20:23

A big spiritual block to forgiveness happens when someone sins against us, and we make the sin eaual to tbe person.

Why is it a spiritual problem to make the sin equal to the person?

When we make the sin equal to the person, we are not only having a perfect hatred of sin, we are also having a perfect hatred for the person who is in the sin. When God saved you, He separated you from your sin.

He saw your sin, but He saw you without it, as described in Ephesians 1 :3-6. Ask yourself:

Do I wait until I feel like it to forgive some people?
Do I forgive them because I am obedient to Christ and His commandments?
Do I do it because it's the law, or do I do it because that's just the way I am?

The Spirit of God dwelling in you gives you the ability to:

1) Think like your Father.
2) Act like your Father.
3) Talk like your Father.
4) Forgive like your Father -whether you feel like it or not.

Does God wait until He feels like it to forgive? Do you think Jesus felt like forgiving while He was on the cross? Make up your mind once and for all that you are going to forgive all manner of sin to all men.

2. Little Faith

Greek: Oligopistos, small, and pistis, faith, “describing a faith that lacks confidence or trusts too little.” It is also referred to as “undeveloped faith” as opposed to outright unbelief. Undeveloped faith is the faith that grows like a mustard seed when action is applied to knowledge. Examples of this word are found in these verses:

Disciples are in the boat at sea.

Matt 8:26 “Why are you fearful, O you of little faith?” Then He arose and rebuked the winds and the sea, and there was a great calm.
Peter walks on the water and begins to sink.

Matt 14:31 “And immediately Jesus stretched out His hand and caught him, and said to him, “O you of little faith, why did you doubt?”
They forgot to take bread and they feared they would starve. This happened twice after they had an opportunity to develop and use faith. They saw God feed the 5,000 and the 4,000 with only a few loaves and fish. God expected more from them because of what they had already seen.

Matt 16:8 But Jesus, being aware of it, said to them, “O you of little faith, why do you reason among yourselves because you have brought no bread?”

How do we increase our faith? By reading the word of God. Our faith needs to grow and it grows by reading truth. Like the mustard seed. It started out as a small seed but because it was watered and taken care of it grew into a very large tree. Same with our faith, we can have faith like a mustard seed but if we water it, by reading the word of God, then our faith will grow and become large to believe in anything. There is power in the word.

3. Doubt and Unbelief

Mark 6:1, 5, 6 - 1, ”Then He went out from there and came to His own country, and His disciples followed Him.” 5,”Now He could do no mighty work there, except that He laid His hands on a few sick people and healed them. And He marveled because of their unbelief.”
There is more than one kind of unbelief, like personal unbelief that hinders healing. There is unbelief in a city like Nazareth that can hinder the corporate healing. Then as we will see in Matt. 17, unbelief in a nation or generation can hinder healing as well.

Matt 17:19-20 - 19, “Then the disciples came to Jesus privately and said, “Why could we not cast it out?” 20,”So Jesus said to them,

“Because of your unbelief; for assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible for you.”

What can we do when we have a spirit of Doubt and Unbelief? By reading the word of God. The more you read the word and water your mind with truth then the truth will set you free.

4. Flagrant Sin or Habitual Sin

There is a difference between (1) temptation, (2) falling into sin then repenting and getting out of sin, and (3) living habitually in sin.

Is temptation the same as sin? No, Jesus was tempted in all points such as we are, yet without sin.

“For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. Hebrews 4: 15

Paul uses Galatians 5:19-21 to defeat legalism and to establish our freedom from legalism.

19 Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, 20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, 21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such thin!!s shall not inherit the kingdom of God. Galatians 5:19-21

What does the word "do" mean in verse 21? The word "do" refers to those who habitually practice those things against God with a hardened heart as a way of life... It is important to understand that Grace and mercy do not absolve us from for holiness.

Deuteronomy 28 clearly states that all disease is a result of separation from God, and disobedience to His Word.

Have you been exposed to teachings that remove responsibility for sin because of grace and mercy? Do you understand that the Word says that the wages of sin is still death? Romans 6:23

Do you believe that there are still consequences to sin in the New Covenant?

Do you see psychological and biological diseases engulfing the Christian church?

Since we know that God does not condone sin in our lives, why is it that grace and mercy seem to be extended to one person and not the other? The person who is not accepted before God has a heart that is God. This person doesn't have any desire to change.

But the other person has, because of temptation, fallen into sin but has a perfect hatred for it. So even though he is still in bondage, his heart is right before God against the sin. God is dealing with that person and working him over.
It's not the sin. God looks at the attitude of your heart toward the sin.

5 . No Intimacy or no relationship with the Father.

Will you have relationship with me? Will you pray and go deeper.

John 6:2 “Then a great multitude followed Him, because they saw His signs which He performed on those who were diseased.”
Jesus wanted them to know the bread of heaven. The people wanted God for what he did and the blessing. Jesus said I want heart relationship.

John 6:53-54 - "53 Then Jesus said to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood, you have no life in you.” 54, “Whoever eats My flesh and drinks My blood has eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day.”

The Syrophenician woman in mark 7:24-30 asked Jesus to cast a devil out of her daughter. Jesus told her that she did not qualify, that she was not in covenant, that she was not with God according to knowledge, that she was outside and separate from God, and that she was asking for something that didn’t belong to her. She answered,

28 … Yes Lord: yet the dogs under the table eat of the children’s crumbs. 29 And He said unto her, For this saying go thy way; the devil is gone out of thy daughter. 30 And when she was come to her house, she found the devil gone out, and her daughter laid upon the bed. Mark 7:28-30.

Does this story tell us that you can be healed without being in covenant?

If you are healed or seeking healing, and if you are outside of covenant with God would it behoove to get into covenant quickly? He who has healed you is He whom you should follow the rest of your days.

6 . Sin you committed or family sins

James 5:16 “Confess your trespasses to one another, and pray for one another, that you may be healed. The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much.”

Jesus spoke to the man crippled 38 years at the pool about sin and sickness. John 5:14 “Afterward Jesus found him in the temple, and said to him, “See, you have been made well. Sin no more, lest a worse thing come upon you.”

Old Testament

a) Isaiah 59:1-2 Isaiah is saying that our sins can separate us from our God. Not only our sins, but also the consequence of our ancestors' sins can transfer into us and separate us from God.

b) Exodus 20:5 - This scripture says that the iniquities of the fathers shall be visited upon the children, on down to the third and fourth generations. This passage says that God holds the fathers responsible for the spirituality of the family.

c) Deuteronomy 5:9 ...for I the Lord thy God am a jealous God, visiting! the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me;

d) In Nehemiah chapter 8 and chapter 9:1-2, you find that Ezra the scribe/priest called all the people together. After they heard the Word of God for six hours they worshipped and confessed their sins and the sins and iniquities of their fathers before God.

Why did they confess the sins and iniquities of their fathers? So that they could be freed from the curse of sin in the qenerations.

Can you see evidence that the curse of the fathers is still here today? Not only do we have to consider personal sins that separate us from our God, we also have to consider generational iniquities that we have inherited through our family tree.

Can you see the bondages and the diseases that follow family trees? Can you see personality quirks and dispositional characteristics and even insanity being passed down?

How are we able to see this? We can see this through simple observation of family trees and by what the Word says about generational curses that flow from family to family.

7. Prayer and Fasting
When there is not enough prayer and fasting it can also hinder healing in our life. Matt 17:21 "However, this kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting.”

The disciples, in Matthew 17:18-21 had to undergo prayer and fasting because they could not cast out the spirit of epilepsy.

Psalm 35:13-14 "13 But as for me, when they were sick, my clothing was sackcloth; I humbled myself with fasting; and my prayer would return to my own heart. 14, I paced about as though he were my friend or brother; I bowed down heavily, as one who mourns for his mother.”

Isa 58:6, 8 "6 Is this not the fast that I have chosen: To loose the bonds of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, to let the oppressed go free, and that you break every yoke? 8, “Then your light shall break forth like the morning, your healing shall spring forth speedily, and your righteousness shall go before you; the glory of the Lord shall be your rear guard.”

Is the fast of Isaiah 58:6 a fast from food and water? No. The fast of Isaiah 58 has to do with your service unto God on behalf of others – both strangers and family.

As you give unto others, God will give back to you. Service unto others breaks the yoke.

Why do we pray and fast? Prayer and fasting allows God to enrich you and bring you back to that place of fellowship where He is your priority.

How does this happen? This fast is that you set aside everything, including eating, so as to have a erpiod of time where you are completely alone with God and His word for relationship purposes.

8. Religious Spirit and Attitudes

Matt 11:16-17 "16But to what shall I liken this generation? It is like children sitting in the marketplaces and calling to their companions, 17 and saying: We played the flute for you, and you did not dance; we mourned to you, and you did not lament.”

In this passage, Jesus describes a generation that misses God because they want predictive Christianity. They want to orchestrate how the people respond and when. It is tradition and formulas that can hinder God’s healing power. We want to keep in control. If we play the flute, the people dance.

Matt 16:1 “Then the Pharisees and Sadducees came, and testing Him asked that He would show them a sign from heaven.”

The religious spirit wants to challenge God even after miracles happen and are evident. They say “I won’t believe unless God does this kind of a healing,” or “if God heals the sick, prove it to us then and heal this one.”

Luke 11:54 “lying in wait for Him, and seeking to catch Him in something He might say that they might accuse Him.”

Religious spirit wants to find the faults and criticize and judge. They are in a place where they can not receive from God because they are in, “I will find something wrong, I knew it attitude.” They have already made up there mind, watching for an error, rather than a touch me mindset and humbly saying “God if it’s real please touch me.”

A form of Godliness

2 Tim 3:5 “having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away!”

Religious forms can hinder the healing power of Jesus. When we are more concerned about keeping the tradition, time, rules, methods and appearances it hinder the manifest power of Jesus.

9. Limit God

Ps 78:41 “Yes, again and again they tempted God, and limited the Holy One of Israel.”

We limit God in many ways to a word of knowledge or a package. We fail to receive because it has to happen in this style or through this scenario. God can only heal when this is happening or God only heals some. We limit God in our expectation and shut God out of doing it any other way than unless this one or that one lays hands on me.

10. Fear

What will fear do to you? Fear will quench your faith. What quenches fear? Faith will quench your fears.

Job 3:25 “For the thing I greatly feared has come upon me and what I dreaded has happened to me.”

Many times fear is the door the enemy uses to pass along generational sickness when we believe we are going to inherit this because my Mother and great, great Grandmother had it. Fear kept them out of the land of promise and the fear of a few spies spread too many. Saul was called out as king and to appear before the people but his fear kept him hiding in the baggage equipment. When we see the giants of opposition in our life, the doctor’s reports or the impossible situation itself, it can inspire fear which can not only cause, but hinder healing in our lives.

Romans 8:5 says “For we have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.

Romans 14:23 says …for whatsoever is not for fear is sin.

John 14:1 says “Let not your heart be fearful; ye believe in god, believe also in me.

Sometimes what is going in our hearts can hinder our healing and even be the cause of sickness.

Proverbs 14:30 30, A sound heart (Tranquil, peaceful) is life to the body, but envy is rottenness to the bones.

When we are not at peace in the heart it can be the cause of sickness. Proverbs 4:23 "Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it spring the issues of life."

11. Unscriptural Doctrines

Matt 22:29 ”Jesus answered and said to them, “You are mistaken, not knowing the Scriptures nor the power of God.”

Do you know what a stronghold his? A stronghold is when we have believed a lie. It is a thinking pattern and process of thoughts patterned after what we believe because of what we have heard or experienced. I have met many that have failed to receive healing in their bodies because they have heard and been taught that “God only heals some” or think that “miracles passed away 2000 years ago.”

“God uses sickness as Fathers discipline,”

“Paul’s thorn in the flesh.”

“It is a part of suffering for Jesus.”

Even though they do not believe that, those religious doctrines have been known to hinder healing today.

12. Excuses

John 5:7 7, “The sick man answered Him, “Sir, I have no man to put me into the pool when the water is stirred up; but while I am coming, another steps down before me.”

“Nobody laid hands on me.”

“I am too sick to get to the meeting.”

“They did not call out my word of knowledge.”

“I am not worthy.”

“They did not pray long enough for me.”

“I can not make a commitment.”

“I work all the time.”

“I can't get in that line of a hundred so I won't get prayer.”

“I have to leave by 8:00 pm.”

Excuses blame everyone and everything else for our not receive healing.

13. Complaining, Murmuring & Grumbling

Numbers 21: 4-5 4, ”Then they journeyed from Mount Hor by the Way of the Red Sea, to go around the land of Edom; and the soul of the people became very discouraged on the way. 5,” And the people spoke against God and against Moses: “Why have you brought us up out of Egypt to die in the wilderness? For there is no food and no water, and our soul loathes this worthless bread.”

Negative confessions.
“I knew it would happen to me,”
“I always get sick.”
“I deserve this because...”
“I never receive from God.”
“God why did you heal her? They don't deserve it, I do.”
“God never blesses me.”
“Why should I tithe it doesn’t change anything.”
“Why pray it’s too hard?”
“God doesn’t speak to me anyway why the word read.”
Murmuring, “why does this happen to me?”
“God, why did you bring us here? It was better over there.”

Ps 78:18-20 18, ”And they tested God in their heart by asking for the food of their fancy. 19,”Yes, they spoke against God: They said, “Can God prepare a table in the wilderness? 20,”Behold, He struck the rock, So that the waters gushed out, and the streams overflowed. Can He give bread also? Can He provide meat for His people?”

And, v 32-33

32, “In spite of this they still sinned, and did not believe in His wondrous works.” 33,”Therefore their days He consumed in futility, and their years in fear.”

14. Disobedience and not obeying instructions

Many times we can fail to receive healing because we will not do what the Lord say's. Whether it is to forgive, jump in the pool 7 times, do something you could not do. Many times we are disobedient to the Lord's strategies for our healing. Steps of obedience release healing. Has God spoken to you about an area of obedience? Have you responded?

John 2:5 5, His mother said to the servants, “Whatever He says to you, do it.”

Do whatever He tells you. I know people that refuse to respond to a word of knowledge or separate themselves from an area of sin. I have been in meetings where God ask people to do something in faith they could not do and they refuse because they say I don’t feel or see change. What if God told us to spit in an eye or on a tongue?

The blessing came to the widow’s house in the days of Elijah because she was obedient to the Lords word.

1 Kings 17:11-16 11, And as she was going to get it, he called to her and said, “Please bring me a morsel of bread in your hand.”12 So she said, “As the Lord your God lives, I do not have bread, only a handful of flour in a bin, and a little oil in a jar; and see, I am gathering a couple of sticks that I may go in and prepare it for myself and my son, that we may eat it, and die.”13 And Elijah said to her, “Do not fear; go and do as you have said, but make me a small cake from it first, and bring it to me; and afterward make some for yourself and your son.14 “For thus says the Lord God of Israel: ‘The bin of flour shall not be used up, nor shall the jar of oil run dry, until the day the Lord sends rain on the earth.’ ”15 So she went away and did according to the word of Elijah; and she and he and her household ate for many days.16 The bin of flour was not used up, nor did the jar of oil run dry, according to the word of the Lord which He spoke by Elijah.

Proverbs 5:11-14 says “And thou mourn at the last, when thy flesh and thy body are consumed, 12 And say, How have I hated instruction, and my heart despised reproof; 13 And have not obeyed the voice of my teachers, nor inclined mine ear to them that instructed me! 14 I have almost in all evil in the midst of the congregation and assembly.

This teaching has come to instruct you in righteousness that you may experience a more excellent way.

Isaiah 28:8-19 “this scripture establishes a plumb line for God’s conviction to find its place in your heart. These verses sum up the entire problem of disease in the world and in the Church today.

15. Ungodly Attitudes Toward Leaders and Anointed Leaders

There is a major curse that comes with touching God’s anointed.

1 Chronicles 16:22 “Touch not mine anointed, and do my prophets no harm. And again in in Psalm 105:15

If you have a pastor who is in error? The elders ought to be able to straighten him out. He is god’s servant, and when its all said and done, god is the One who will deal with him.

Who are God’s Anointed? God’s anointed are all those set in place in leadership in the church and their families.

More Scriptures:

Numbers 16:1-3 1, Now Korah the son of Izhar, the son of Kohath, the son of Levi, with Dathan and Abiram the sons of Eliab, and On the son of Peleth, sons of Reuben, took men;2 and they rose up before Moses with some of the children of Israel, two hundred and fifty leaders of the congregation, representatives of the congregation, men of renown.3 They gathered together against Moses and Aaron, and said to them, “You take too much upon yourselves, for all the congregation is holy, every one of them, and the Lord is among them. Why then do you exalt yourselves above the assembly of the Lord?”

I have seen this in the church today. People speak out against leaders because they feel that they are just or more anointed then them. Running from church to church or not even going. The worst sin is complaining and speaking against the leader or pastor. It’s the lone wolf, lone ranger spirit, the spirit of division and undermining. God's response to this attitude was:

Numbers 16:31-33 31 Now it came to pass, as he finished speaking all these words, that the ground split apart under them, 32 and the earth opened its mouth and swallowed them up, with their households and all the men with Korah, with all their goods.33 So they and all those with them went down alive into the pit; the earth closed over them, and they perished from among the assembly.
Then we have the story of Miriam and her leprosy:

Numbers 12:1-2, 9, 10 Then Miriam and Aaron spoke against Moses because of the Ethiopian woman whom he had married; for he had married an Ethiopian woman.2 So they said, “Has the Lord indeed spoken only through Moses? Has He not spoken through us also?” And the Lord heard it.

SO

9, So the anger of the Lord was aroused against them, and He departed. 10 And when the cloud departed from above the tabernacle, suddenly Miriam became leprous, as white as snow. Then Aaron turned toward Miriam, and there she was, a leper.

Sometimes we need to repent for speaking out and criticizing others especially leaders and even moves of God or manafestations. Remember Michael and how she became barren because she judged and spoke out against David as he danced before the Lord.

16. Ignorance or lack of knowledge.

Many times we fail to receive healing because we do not know what God's will is Hosea 4:6 6, My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge. Because you have rejected knowledge.

Both Isaiah 5:13 and Hosea 4:6-7 tell us that we have gone into captivity, and are being destroyed because of lack of knowledge.

Is “ignorance” a form of knowledge? When we are ignorant, do we know we are ignorant?

1 Corinthians 13:12 says “For now we see through a glass darkly…

17. Natural Means – Improper care of the body

Sometimes God gives us good wisdom about nutrition, eating and vitamins. Still God can use doctors and medicine.

Hezekiah's healing

2 Kings 20:7 7, Then Isaiah said, “Take a lump of figs.” So they took and laid it on the boil, and he recovered. Paul told Timothy to take a little wine for his stomach. Remember all healing still comes from God even if medicine is used. Is God going to answer your prayers for your healing if you are not taking care of your temple? No. god is not going to answer prayers for your healing if you are not getting good nutrition, drinking enough water or getting enough rest and sleep.

Can prolonged illness be the consequence of negligence? Yes

Is burnout another aspect of improper care of the body? Yes. In Philippines 2:25-30, there is a story about somebody serving the Lord who got sick unto death because they did not use wisdom in how much time they spent in ministry serving the Lord.

18. Our Confession (Words)

Proverbs 18:20-21 20, A man’s stomach shall be satisfied from the fruit of his mouth; from the produce of his lips he shall be filled. 21 Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit.

Proverbs 15:4 4, A wholesome tongue is a tree of life, but perverseness in it breaks the spirit.

Proverbs 12:14 14, A man will be satisfied with good by the fruit of his mouth, and the recompense of a man’s hands will be rendered to him.

Proverbs 12:18 18, There is one who speaks like the piercing of a sword, But the tongue of the wise promotes health.

19. Broken Spirit or Broken Heart - http://truth7.blogspot.com/2005/10/teaching-broken-heart.html

Proverbs 17:22 22, A merry heart does good, like medicine, But a broken spirit dries the bones.

Proverbs 18:14 14, The spirit of a man will sustain him in sickness, But who can bear a broken spirit? Sometimes hindrances to healing can be a trauma and wounds of the past. We don't always need physical but emotional healing.

We are going to be pinged by people but it is what we do with it that breaks the heart. If we do not forgive and allow that person’s sin to cause us to harbor unforgiveness, then our hearts will be broken.

20. Hardened Heart

Hardened means: To form a callous or petrify, make hard, spiritual deafness or blindness. Those who repeatedly resist the word become insensitive and lose the power of understanding.

Mark 8:16-18 16, And they reasoned among themselves, saying, “It is because we have no bread.” 17 But Jesus, being aware of it, said to them, “Why do you reason because you have no bread? Do you not yet perceive nor understand? Is your heart still hardened? 18 “Having eyes, do you not see? And having ears, do you not hear? And do you not remember?

The heart becomes hardened when we forget what he has done. Jesus asked them do you not remember. Our healing can be hindered when we fail to remember his works in the past. It causes the heart to become dull.

Psalms 78:9 9, The children of Ephraim, being armed and carrying bows, Turned back in the day of battle. This happened after they forgot his past works.

The heart also becomes hardened by the deceitfulness of sin or even areas of little compromise and inward toleration. Hebrews 3:12-13 12, Beware, brethren, lest there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief in departing from the living God;13 but exhort one another daily, while it is called “Today,” lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.

We also become dull in our and hearing because we fail to be a doer of the word. Hebrews 5:14 14, But solid food belongs to those who are of full age, that is, those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil.

The cares of the world also cause the heart to become dull (Parable of sower).

Rebellion is also a key to the heart being dull. When we continually resist the word or do not meditate on the word. Ezekiel 12:1-2 Now the word of the Lord came to me, saying: 2 “Son of man, you dwell in the midst of a rebellious house, which has eyes to see but does not see, and ears to hear but does not hear; for they are a rebellious house.

21. Negative Influences

Mark 5: 35 35, While He was still speaking, some came from the ruler of the synagogue’s house who said, “Your daughter is dead. Why trouble the Teacher any further?”

Jairus nearly lost his daughter because the people and the circumstances said give up. Do not feed your spirit with naysayers and those who are trying to keep you from what God really wants you to have. There will always be those negative voices speaking it is not God's time. did you see what the report said? The devil wants you to focus on the contrary winds and will even use family and friends to try to discourage us. See nothing happened or If God did not heal me then why would he heal you. Why do you need to press in for healing isn't salvation enough? Bear it and grin it the Lord is teaching you.

The woman whose son died and was raised from the dead had those discouraging voices.

2 Kings 4:23 23, So he said, “Why are you going to him today? It is neither the New Moon nor the Sabbath.” And she said, “It is well.”
Blind Bartamaius nearly lost his healing because the outside influences said be quiet and give up. He has passed you by now...
Luke 18:39 39, Then those who went before warned him that he should be quiet; but he cried out all the more, “Son of David, have mercy on me!”

22. Greed

2 Kings 5: 20-2 20, But Gehazi, the servant of Elisha the man of God, said, “Look, my master has spared Naaman this Syrian, while not receiving from his hands what he brought; but as the Lord lives, I will run after him and take something from him.” 21 So Gehazi pursued Naaman. When Naaman saw him running after him, he got down from the chariot to meet him, and said, “Is all well?” 22 And he said, “All is well. My master has sent me, saying, ‘Indeed, just now two young men of the sons of the prophets have come to me from the mountains of Ephraim. Please give them a talent of silver and two changes of garments.’” 23 So Naaman said, “Please, take two talents.” And he urged him, and bound two talents of silver in two bags, with two changes of garments, and handed them to two of his servants; and they carried them on ahead of him. 24 When he came to the citadel, he took them from their hand, and stored them away in the house; then he let the men go, and they departed. 25 Now he went in and stood before his master. Elisha said to him, “Where did you go, Gehazi?” And he said, “Your servant did not go anywhere.” 26 Then he said to him, “Did not my heart go with you when the man turned back from his chariot to meet you? Is it time to receive money and to receive clothing, olive groves and vineyards, sheep and oxen, male and female servants? 27 “Therefore the leprosy of Naaman shall cling to you and your descendants forever.” And he went out from his presence leprous, as white as snow.

It was Greed in the case of Simon the sorcerer that hindered him receiving an impartation of healing power.

Acts 8:18-20 18, And when Simon saw that through the laying on of the apostles’ hands the Holy Spirit was given, he offered them money, 19 saying, “Give me this power also, that anyone on whom I lay hands may receive the Holy Spirit.” 20 But Peter said to him, “Your money perishes with you, because you thought that the gift of God could be purchased with money!

23. Healing Can Be Delayed When We Forget the Poor

Proverbs 21:13 13, whoever shuts his ears to the cry of the poor Will also cry himself and not be heard. Cornlius was answered because of his gifts to the poor.

Acts 10:1-4 1, There was a certain man in Caesarea called Cornelius, a centurion of what was called the Italian Regiment, 2 a devout man and one who feared God with his entire household, who gave alms generously to the people, and prayed to God always. 3 About the ninth hour of the day he saw clearly in a vision an angel of God coming in and saying to him, “Cornelius!” 4 And when he observed him, he was afraid, and said, “What is it, lord?” So he said to him, “Your prayers and your alms have come up for a memorial before God.

Isaiah 58:7-8 7, Is it not to share your bread with the hungry, And that you bring to your house the poor who are cast out; When you see the naked, that you cover him, And not hide yourself from your own flesh? 8 Then your light shall break forth like the morning, Your healing shall spring forth speedily....

24. No Expectation

Acts 3:5 5, So he gave them his attention, expecting to receive something from them.

Many people fail to receive healing today because our attitude is not aggressive enough. We sit back and wait to see if anything happens. If God wants to heal me he can do it here in my seat. I will take what he gives me. I guess it is his will because I am not healed.
What about the story in Acts 12 after they pray all night for Peter to be released from prison. When he is released by an angel and knocks at the door they do not believe it is him. Many people in the church can pray all night but do we expect the answer is coming.

Acts 12:14-16 14, When she recognized Peter’s voice, because of her gladness she did not open the gate, but ran in and announced that Peter stood before the gate. 15 But they said to her, “You are beside yourself!” Yet she kept insisting that it was so. So they said, “It is his angel.” 16 Now Peter continued knocking; and when they opened the door and saw him, they were astonished.

25. Not Being Honest and Transparent

What are the most common reasons for not being honest and transparent?

a. Fear: Fear of rejection, fear of man, fear of failure, fear of abandonment, and fear of not being loved causes us to cover up who we really are.

b. Pride: Why is pride such an obstacle? Pride can make you appear holy when you are not. Pride produces an existence that is fraudulent. In other words, you’re living a lie. Pride produces a fall and much disease.

“Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall. Proverbs 16:18

Did you forgive that god sees you? Did you forget that God already knows everything? Do you think you are hiding anything from God.

He knows my thought and He knows your thoughts.

James 5:16 tells us to confess our faults one to another, that we may be healed.

Galatians 6:1 tells us how we are instructed to respond in meekness toward someone who has fallen into sin.

Proverbs 28:13 “He that covereth his sins shall not prosper; but whosoever confesseth and forsaketh them shall have mercy.”

Isaiah said it this way “For thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity…I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit. Isaiah 57:15.

2 Kings 5:10-11 10, ”And Elisha sent a messenger to him, saying, “Go and wash in the Jordan seven times, and your flesh shall be restored to you, and you shall be clean.” 11, “But Naaman became furious, and went away and said, “Indeed, I said to myself, ‘He will surely come out to me, and stand and call on the name of the Lord his God, and wave his hand over the place, and heal the leprosy.”

Naaman nearly failed to receive healing because of his pride and position. I have been in meetings where God would not heal somebody because they judged in a pride attitude. “I don’t have to go up to the front to be healed;” or “I am not falling down.” They resist God through pride and fear of losing position if there seen having a man lesser or younger than them pray for them. Be first at the altar to receive from children and young people. Respond to the man of God, “I will do anything the Lord says. I don't care if I seem vulnerable and somebody might think why he is at the altar.” Our ministry persona may hinder the blessing of healing because too many times we are the ones doing ministry to the people to receive from another is to suggest we do not have it together.

26. Robbing God in Tithes and Offerings

Malachi 3:8-11 tells about robbing God in our tithes and offerings.

Why were the people of God cursed with a curse according to Malachi 3? Because they had not brought their tithes and offerings into the storehouse.

Why is this robbing God? Everything you have belongs to Him.

Even my paycheck? Your paycheck is also God’s. He’s just loaning it to you.

Who are you working for? The Bible says that you are not working for an employer; you are working for the Lord.

Even if he/she is unjust? You are still working for the Lord.

Is it possible to rob other things from God besides money? Robbing God is not just in tithes and offerings, but in the “first fruits” of our substance, including our time. The best belongs to God.

“Honor the LORD with thy substance, and with the first fruits of all thine increase: Proverbs 3:9.

27. Sin of Our Parents:

In 2 Samuel 11-12, you can read the story of the adulterous affair that David had with Bathsheba, and in chapter 12, verses 13-14, there was a curse of death on David and Bathsheba’s child. The child died because of the sin of adultery and murder in the lives of the parents. Also note what else god said to David.

“Howbeit, because by this deed thou hast given great occasion to the enemies of the LORD to blaspheme, the child also that is born unto thee shall surely die. 2 Samuel 12:25

David’s actions gave the enemy an advantage. Our words and our actions give the enemy an opportunity to blaspheme. How often do you think about how your word and actions to give your enemies a reason to blaspheme the Lord?

28. The Need to See a Miracle

Many people will not believe until they have seen a miracle.

1) Those who mocked Jesus on the cross

When Jesus was on the cross, Matthew 27:39-40 says-And they that passed by reviled Him, wagging their heads, And saying, Thou that destroyest the temple and buildest it in three days, save Thyself. If Thou be the Son of God, come down from the cross.

What did they want to see before they would believe? They wanted to see a miracle. They wanted to see Jesus come off the cross, but if He had, you and I wouldn't be here today.

2) Peter

When Jesus was preparing the disciples for His crucifixion, He told them that He would go to - Jerusalem and that He would be betrayed and be crucified. Peter rebuked Him and kind of "told Him off." What did Jesus do in response to Peter? He said, "Get behind me, Satan."

3) Thomas

Thomas said he wouldn't believe Jesus was raised from the dead until he saw the scars, so Jesus showed him the scars in His hands and in His side. John 20:28-29 What did Jesus say to Thomas?

4) Temptation of Christ by Satan

Look at how Satan tempted our LORD Jesus in this area.

"'Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil. 'And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he was afterward an hungred. 'And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread. Matthew 4:1-3

Satan was saying, 'Do something."

If you don't see God and the sanctification work of the Word behind me, you have a block. If I don't become invisible so that all you see is Him, you have a block. I am is His slave and His servant.

You are to look to Him, to the sanctifying work of the Holy Spirit, and to the Word of God.

Have you asked God to do something for you? Have you put up a fleece, saying, “God, if you’ll do this, then I’ll believe you?

Could you just believe Him to begin with? If He wants to do something for you, wouldn’t He just do it? How? He would come to you and deal with you in the parts of you where you are separated from Him so that He could bless you with the desire of your heart.

29. Looking for Signs and Wonders

If we seek God and His Word, not signs and wonders as the foundation of our faith, signs and wonders will chase after us!

There is a difference between chasing signs and wonders and having signs and wonders following you. The key is to have faith in god and His word on the basis of relationship, not on the basis of signs and manifestations.

Some people are looking for signs, rather than the Word of God. In Cana, a man asked Jesus to heal his son. In John 4:46-48, Jesus told him Except ye see signs and wonders, ye will not believe.

38 Then certain of the scribes and of the Pharisees answered, saying, Master, we would see a sign from thee. 39 But he answered and said unto them, An evil and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given to it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas: Matthew 12:38-39

30. Expecting God to Heal on One's Own Terms

You have to be careful that you don't make those who rule over you greater than they really are.

3 Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons: Acts 10:34

The example of Naaman 2 Kings 5:8-14

Naaman was an important individual. He was the captain of the host of the king of Syria...a great and honorable man. He was of great value to his master. He had leprosy and he came a great distance to find Elisha, the man of God who he had heard could heal him or fix him and get him right.

10 And Elisha sent a messenger unto him, saying, Go and wash in the Jordan seven times, and thy flesh shall come again to thee, and thou shalt be clean. II But Naaman was wroth, and went away, and said, Behold, I thought, He will surely come out to me, and stand, and call on the name of the LORD his God, and strike his hand over the place, and recover the leper. 12 Are not Abana and Pharpar, rivers of Damascus, better than all the waters of Israel? may I not wash in them, and be clean? So he turned and went away in a rage. 2 Kings 5:10-12

Can you see Naaman's pride in verse 11? Had Naaman already figured out how it was going to go? Yes. The real kicker of this story is that Elisha didn't go meet him at all. He sent his servant. What did Elisha tell the messenger to say? Go down to the river and wash seven times. What was Naaman's reaction? .What? You don't know who you are talking to. I want Elisha to come out here and call unto his God in heaven, and strike his hand over the place. I want to see a miracle.

Sometimes we expect God to heal us on our own terms in the way that we think it should go.

Do you think Naaman had spiritual problems? Yes. What were the spiritual roots? Pride, bitterness, resentment, unforgiveness, rage and anger.

31. Expecting God to Heal on One's Own Terms

You have to be careful that you don't make those who rule over you greater than they really are.

3 Then Peter opened his mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons: Acts 10:34

Sometimes we expect God to heal us on our own terms in the way that we think it should go.

Do you think Naaman had spiritual problems? Yes. What were the spiritual roots? Pride, bitterness, resentment, unforgiveness, rage and anger.

32. Looking to Man Rather Than God

This ministry is not against physicians or psychiatrists, but they are not qualified to deal with the spiritual roots of disease to bring forth healing, and the Church has negated its role in the healing of disease by asking doctors to become spiritual healers.

Who is qualified? Born again believers. We know this from the Word.

a) The gifts of healing are given by the Holy Spirit in 1 Corinthians 12:8-10.

b) Ephesians 4: 11-12 says -11 And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; 12For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ:

c) According to these scriptures:

Are doctors qualified to heal you of spiritually rooted diseases? No!

Are they listed in the five-fold ministry giftings of Ephesians 4? No!

Who has been ordained to heal? God has ordained the Church to be involved in healing the body.

What do doctors have to offer? The best doctors have to offer, in cases where a disease is spiritually rooted, is disease management.

Is it wrong to get a diagnosis from a doctor? No, it is not wrong. This ministry is all for you getting a diagnosis. We don't play games with people's lives.

As born again believers, what do we need from Doctors? We need doctors who understand that there are spiritual components to disease and who will work with pastors who also understand the role of the Church in the healing of disease.

When is going to a doctor a block to healing? Looking to doctors for healing before seeking God and without giving consideration to the spiritual dynamics behind the curse of disease is a block to healing.

Jeremiah 17:5-6

Thus saith the LORD; Cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the LORD...6Blessed is the man that trusteth in the LORD, and whose hope the LoRD is... Jeremiah 17:5-6

One of the great blocks to healing from god is looking to man to be your source. That is why the church is not seeing healings and miracles today.

In 2 Chronicles 16:7-12 is the story of Asa.

Asa died. One of the reasons he died was because he did not seek the LORD first, not only in war, but also in his personal life. God had already proven Himself to be on Asa's side in previous wars. Asa's heart had hardened in his apostasy, and in his darkness and he had a disease that was unto death.

12 And Asa in the thirty and ninth year of his reign was diseased in his feet, until his disease was exceeding great: yet in his disease he sought not to the LORD, but to the physicians. 2 Chronicles 16:12

Have you ever looked to man as your source rather than God? If so, repent and turn to Him.

The Church has failed in its mission at this level to represent God. Many churches teach their people to believe in God, but they do not understand disease and the cause for it. In 80% of all cases, disease has a spiritual root. The people have nowhere to turn except to man because the Church has negated its role in the healing of spiritually rooted disease.

33. Sometimes the Sickness is Unto Death

2 Chronicles 21 :4-20 tells the story of Jehoram. He was a man that once knew God, but he turned away from Him.
.
Did he have a sickness unto death? Yes. He killed his brothers, and because.of murder he got sick and died. The Bible says it was a sin unto death.

There are certain sins unto death that cause people to die from disease.

1 John 5:16, talks about a sin unto death. John says in this verse, "I would not that you pray for it".

16 If any man see his brother sin a sin which is not unto death, he shall ask, and he shall give him life for them that sin not unto death. There is a sin unto death: I do not say that he shall pray for it. 17 All unrighteousness is sin: and there is a sin not unto death. 1 John 5:16-17

2 Kings 1 :2-8 is the story of Ahaziah. He dabbled in sorcery. Under the law of Moses, sorcery, witchcraft and occultism brought a penalty of death. Ahaziah died because his sin was unto death.

King Saul died prematurely because of his sins. Saul disobeyed God, and he contacted the witch of Endor who had a familiar spirit. When Saul committed suicide, he was judged in death because he disobeyed God and because he consulted with a familiar spirit. 1 Chronicles 10:13-14.

How do we know what kind of sin to pray for, and what kind of sin not to pray for? If I see you in sin that won’t produce a disease that will kill you, then I shall pray to god for you that He may heal you. But if I see you sin a sin that produces a disease unto death, I shall not pray for you because it is a sin that is unto death.

Many diseases we deal with are spiritually rooted and are diseases unto death. If a disease is unto death, you are wasting time praying for it. If we aren't supposed to pray, what can we do? Before you pray get involved with the person. Tell them that according to the Word of God you cannot pray for them until sin issues are dealt with. Deal with the sin issue first, then pray and minister. See 2 Timothy 2:24-26 and Galatians 6:1.

What are examples of diseases unto death? Diseases that are coming out of bitterness and unforgiveness are diseases unto death. Cancer is a disease unto death that comes out of bitterness. Diabetes is a death disease coming right out of self-hatred. Jesus healed every single person that came to Him. Why isn't that happening today? Sanctification for healing is the dimension that is missing from teachings in the churches today.

Why do we need to teach sanctification? If I ask God to heal you while you are in your sin, I would be asking Him to dishonor His Word by condoning your sin. God said, in His first commandment "You shall have no other gods before Me."

34. Our Allotted Time in Life is Fulfilled

What should the longevity of a man be? In Psalm 90, God, by His Spirit through Moses, established the longevity of man as threescore and ten, which is seventy comfortable years; or fourscore, which is eighty years with "some trouble." Anything less than 70-80 years of longevity on this planet is a curse.

Why does God give us this much time? God's promise is that we should have longevity in order to establish His righteousness in our generation, and that we may number our days in righteousness and be part of His plan, His kingdom.

If you find a man who’s life was cut short, you will see a curse attached to it.

35. Looking to Symptoms and Not the Healer.

28 And Peter answered him and said, Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water. 29 And he said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus. But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me. Matthew 14:28-30

What happened to Peter when he was walking on the water? As long as he kept his eyes on the Lord. he was fine. When he took his eyes off of the LORD, he went into unbelief and started to sink.

Are we going into unbelief when we are looking at the symptom of our disease instead of God? Get your eyes off your pain. Get your eyes off your disease. Get your eyes back on the Lord and His word and keep them there.

Proverbs, 18:14 says -The spirit of a man will sustain his infirmity; but a wounded spirit who can bear? Proverbs 18:14

How can you stay in the Spirit? Scripture teaches that we are seated with Christ Jesus in heavenly places, far above all principalities and powers. See Ephesians 1: 19-23, Ephesians 2:6, and Romans 8:11.

36. Not Discerning the Lord’s Body

29For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord's body. 30 For this cause many are weak and sickly among you, and many sleep *. 1 Corinthians 11 :29-30

What did Paul say were the consequences of not discerning the LORD'S body? Paul said, "many are weak, and sickly among you and many sleep because they did not discern the LORD's body.

It is the "LORD's body" we must discern. It is by His stripes we were and are healed.

Surely he hath borne our grief's, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. Isaiah 53:4-5

17 That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying, Himself took our infirmities, and bare our sicknesses. Matthew 8: 17

24 Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed. 1 Peter 2:24

Would you like to avoid being weak and sickly and premature death? Then have faith in the healing and forgiveness that was provided by Christ. Nothing will be impossible with such faith.

And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God. "For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith. "Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, that ye receive them, and ye shall have them. Mark 11 :22-24

Communion

1 Corinthians chapter 11 tells us about not recognizing the Lord's body in regards to taking communion in unbelief.

"Wherefore whosoever shall eat this bread, and drink this cup of the Lord, unworthily, shall be guilty of the body and blood of the Lord. '"But let a man examine himself, and so let him eat of that bread, and drink of that cup. "For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord's body. For this cause many are weak and sickly among you, and many sleep. )'For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged. 1 Corinthians 11:27-31

• If we take communion not realizing its true significance will we receive chastening? Yes

• If we take communion without discerning the LORD’s body and blood to receive the benefits by faith will we receive chastening? Yes

• If we take communion with sin in our lives, without making confession unto salvation and without making confession until salvation and without judging ourselves, will we receive chastening? Yes!

• What about the unsaved? The unsaved man who takes communion with sin in his life, without making confession unto salvation, and without judging himself, will also receive God’s chastening.

There are three aspects to this block to healing.

a) Aspect one is partaking unworthily. Only three sacraments are found in Scripture as commandments: water baptism, communion and foot washing. In communion you are celebrating the remembrance of Christ in two dimensions: His shed blood and His broken body.

When you unworthily partake of what God's forgiveness represents in communion, without repenting to Him. you are guilty of fraud, and you have cursed yourself with a curse. You have cursed yourself with a curse because you make what Jesus did at the cross of no effect for you.

It’s not the sacrament that saves you – it’s the obedience.

Part of partaking unworthily is failing to judge ourselves, with regard to sin as the spiritual roots of disease. When we judge ourselves, it brings forth repentance so that forgiveness, deliverance and healing can be appropriated. This appropriation is what brings forth the full benefits provided in the LORD's Supper.

What does judging ourselves involve? Judging ourselves involves having the discernment to know specifically what is being repented for. Otherwise we do not know what to stand against, what to change in our lives, and what to renounce out of our lives. Many people say, "Father God, forgive me of all my sins," and He does forgive, but there can be no without knowing specifically the sin area that needs to be sanctified out of our life.

b) Aspect two is "Eating each other alive.” This happens when the body of believers attack one another in relationships as an autoimmune disease attacks the physical body.

Who is the. Body of Christ"? The Church is called the body of Christ.

27 Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular. 1 Corinthians 12:27

2 Bear ye one another's burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ. Galatians 6:2

We must learn to discern one another as part of one body.

Can you love the LORD if you hate your brother? No. If you say you love the LORD, yet you hate your brother, the love of God is not with you. "We know that we have passed from death unto life, because we love the brethren. He that loveth not his brother abideth in death. 1 John 3:14

When we partake of the LORD’s Supper/Communion in remembrance of Him, we are saying to Him that because of what He did for us, we are ready to do that for each other.

Why do we need to die for each other if Christ has already laid down His life? We are not dying for each other's sins, but we are to lay our lives down in service, one to another.

And if we ignore our brother in need? Then we have repeated that fellowship with him that communion represents.

What is the consequence of refusing fellowship with each other at that level? If we are not in fellowship at that level, we are cursed with a curse (disease).

What does the word "communion" mean? Communion is koinonia (#2842, Greek, Strong's Concordance)-fellowship. We must focus on the horizontal relationship in the body of Christ, which is our relationship with each other, as well as on the vertical relationship with each of the three persons of the Godhead.

The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the communion of the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, is it not the communion of the body of Christ? 17 For we being many are one bread, and one body: for we are all partakers of that one bread. 1 Corinthians 10: 16-17

What does the cup represent? The cup (the blood) is for forgiveness of sins both on the vertical level from God and on the horizontal level towards each other.

What does the bread represent? The bread is the bread of life for healing of our bodies through helping one another deal with the spiritual roots of disease and blocks to healing. It is the Church being the Church, and ministering the life of God to each other.

What is the benefit of partaking of this sacrament properly? When we are partaking of communion rightly, then we can truly say:

17 For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink; but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost. Romans 14:17

c) The third aspect of "Not discerning the LORD'S body" as taught in 1 Corinthians 11 is even
more serious. It is not believing that healing is for today.

Who is it addressed to: it is addressed to churches that do not believe that healing is for today.

Why is it that many churches do not believe that what was provided for us at the cross is represented by the communion service? Churches do not believe that healing is for TODAY.

Editor’s note: this is dispensationalism.

Was the shed blood of Jesus for healing of disease, or for forgiveness? The shed blood of Jesus was not for the healing of disease. His shed blood was for the forgiveness of sins. Scriptures is clear without the shedding of blood, there is no remission of sins.

28 For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins. Matthew 26:28.

22 And almost all things are by the law purged with blood; and without shedding of blood is no remission. Hebrews 9:22

When we come into communion and take the cup, we acknowledge that what He did for us allows us to repent, and be cleansed and forgiven of all sin. 1 John 1:7-10.

The broken bread represents the stripes that were laid on Jesus. The bread represents freedom from the curse. The curse includes all manner of diseases. See Deuteronomy 28.

24 Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness; by whose stripes ye were healed. 1 Peter 2:24.

What is unsound about this picture theologically? When we do this we negate one-half of what Christ did at the cross. In partaking of the break unworthily, we curse ourselves in our ignorance and our apostasy.

37. Failing to keep our life filled up with god

Jesus said in John 5:14, after He had just healed someone -go your way, sin no more, lest a worse thing come upon you.

What was He saying?

Keep yourself filled; don't sin. I .'When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places, seeking rest, and findeth none. «Then he saith, I will return into my house from whence I came out; and when he is come, he findeth it empty, swept, and garnished. .'Then goeth he, and taketh with himself seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter in and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first. Even so shall it be also unto this wicked generation. Matthew 12:43-45

What is this saying? It is saying that when God delivers you, you have an obligation to stay "filled up."

What do we need to be filled with? It is important to note that when the enemy is removed, he will come back to see if you are "for real" and if you are "filled up" with the knowledge of God and obedience to Him. See Luke 11 :21-26.

When the enemy is within out, he is at peace, and you’re in torment. Then when the enemy is gone out of you, he is in torment, and you are at peace.

38. Not resisting the enemy

In Isaiah 38:1-5 is the story of King Hezekiah who was sick unto death. The prophet told him he was going to die in his disease.

What did Hezekiah do? He had a disease unto death. Did he roll over against the wall and curse God? Did he roll over against the wall and go into abject bitterness? Did he roll over against the wall and have a pity party? Did he call the undertaker? He prayed and he asked God for extended life.

Did God give healing to him? Yes! Fifteen years! If you have a disease unto death, talk to God! Ask Him for fifteen more years. You have a scripture to stand on!

One aspect of not resisting is not asking God for your healing.

The enemy is always trying to devour mankind through temptation, but the Scriptures indicates that you can defeat him and he will flee.

8 Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: 9 Whom resist stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world. 1 Peter 5:8-9

7 Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. 8 Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded. James 4:7-8

39. Giving Up

What does it mean to "give up"? You resign yourself to illness when you focus on your symptoms, your prognosis and the word "incurable". When you give up you are believing everything the physical realm is telling you rather than pursuing healing.

9 Mine eye mourneth by reason of affliction: Lord, I have called daily upon thee, I have stretched out my hands unto thee. 10 thou shew wonders to the dead? shall the dead arise and praise thee? Selah. Psalm 88:9-10 9

9 What profit is there in my blood, when I go down to the pit? Shall the dust praise thee? shall it declare thy truth? Psalm 30:9

Which is a more excellent way -premature death or a longer life in which to fulfill the will of God in your life? The LORD is more magnified in our healing than in a premature death.

10 The days of our years are threescore years and ten; and if by reason of strength they he fourscore years, yet is their strength labour and sorrow; for it is soon cut off, and we flyaway. Psalm 90:10... Remember, three score and ten is seventy years.

Did Moses say age 60 with some trouble? No!

He didn't say age 30 with some trouble either. He says trouble doesn't start happening till you're age 80, then you have some trouble.

40. Looking for Repeated Healing's Instead of Divine Health

Deuteronomy 28 says, that if we disobey the LORD our God, the curse comes Upon us. If we obey the LORD our God, get all this stuff straightened out and keep working on it, He’ll put none of the diseases of Egypt upon us.

"And said, If thou wilt diligently hearken to the voice of the LoRD thy God, and wilt do that which is right in his sight, and wilt give ear to his commandments, and keep all his statutes, I will put none of these diseases upon thee, which I have brought upon the Egyptians: for I am the LORD that healeth thee. Exodus 15:26

23 And the very God of peace sanctify you wholly; and I pray God your whole spirit and soul and body be preserved blameless unto the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. I Thessalonians 5:23

These principles will prevent diseases from ever coming in the first place if you will apply them to your life. Which is easier? Working this "stuff' out to get well or working this "stuff' out not to get sick? Both require the same amount of fellowship and the same amount of coming before God and the same amount of sanctification.

2 Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth. 3 John 1:2

• Is that His will for you? Yes. that is what it says in 3 John.

• Do you think it's God's will to heal today? There it is in 3 John.

• Do you think it's God's will that you be in good health today? It says that in John 3 also.

• Do you think it's God's will for your poor head to be straightened out today? There it is.

41. Rejecting Healing as Part of the Covenant for Today

In 1 Peter 2:24, it tells us- by His stripes we were healed.

In Isaiah 53:5, it says -by His stripes we are healed.

Psalm 103:3 says -Who forgiveth thee of all thy iniquities; who healeth thee of all thy diseases.

42. Trying to Bypass the Penalty of the curse.

Is taking medication for a disease trying to bypass the penalty of the curse without taking responsibility for the sin issue behind it? Yes.

For example, if you have mal absorption because of anxiety, then taking a medication is an attempt to bypass the penalty of the curse, because the root is fear and anxiety, which is sin.

Is the disease the fruit of the sin? Yes. The fruit of the sin of fear and anxiety is mal absorption, and the drug is an attempt to manage it apart from dealing with it. Another example is cancer, which results from bitterness.

We do everything under the sun to try to get well, instead of making peace with whomever we had bitterness towards. This is dealing with the sin in the situation, dealing with the root cause.

Modalities of healing's are an attempt to bypass the penalty of the curse by trying to get well without doing it God's way in obedience to Him.

Does this mean we should not go to a doctor? No. This does not mean that a person is never supposed to go to a doctor to find out what is wrong with them. What we are saying is that if your disease is spiritually rooted, the only way healing/wholeness will come is to deal with the spiritual root through repentance- and sanctification.

What are we saying to God when we have this block? If you have this block you are saying, is that you want your healing but you do not want to go through the right doorway to get it. You don't want to go the route of repentance and sanctification. You would rather put your trust in doctors and medicine as an attempt to bypass responsibility before God for the disease which is a curse in your life.

2 As the bird by wandering, as the swallow by flying, so the curse causeless shall not come. Proverbs 26:2

43.Past and Continued Involvement with Occultism

Past and continued involvement in occultic practices, thinking or modalities of healing and disease prevention may prevent healing.

Occultism is mankind's attempt to heal himself and help himself. If we have followed these modalities we have opened ourselves up to occultic intrusion. We may have been following a mindset that is an abomination to God.

These philosophies, mind sets and activities are often an attempt to bypass the penalty of the curse without taking responsibility for the sin or spiritual defect that causes the disease.

It would be God's will for you to be sanctified in these areas, and not managed or manipulated in your spirit, soul or body.

12 SO teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts unto wisdom. Psalm 90:12

Our knowledge and wisdom come from teaching which is based on the Word of God, not the study of creation such as the sun, moon and stars. God has given us the hours, days, months, and years of time so that in time (sometimes just in time) we may understand what He has said concerning our thoughts and actions. and not what a diviner, astrologer, soothsayer, false prophet, or prophetess has said about the past, present, and future.

What about prophesy in the church? Even in the Church we have to be discerning in the application of the prophetic. Obedience is still better than sacrifice (I Samuel 15:22), and sanctification and righteousness, including repentance from dead works (Hebrews 6:1), are still the foundation, not what the future holds.

What happens when we exalt the wisdom of the "little g- gods, which are devils? Insanity and mental confusion often come when we seek the wisdom of this world or the doctrine of devils.

What happens when the spirit of God departs? When the Spirit of God departs, all that man has left is his own tormented mind, or a spirit of insanity from the devil.

King Nebuchadnezzar -See Daniel 5:17-21

King Saul -See I Samuel 28

How can you tell when this is happening? The first indication that the spirit of God has gone is fear and torment. 1 John 4:18 says, Fear has torment.

What does occultism offer? Occultism always starts from a fear issue. Then it applies the enemy's thoughts and mechanisms to seemingly relieve the fear. But in fact, occultism offers no real solution, it only offers thoughts and actions that bring torment.

3Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee. Isaiah 26:3

Do occultic modalities offer some kind of spirituality? Yes. Many occultic modalities offer forms of spirituality, but lack the Word of God as a foundation.

Do they sometimes use scripture? Yes, but when Scripture is used, it is used out of context; or worse, used to manipulate or create future promises of blessing without any regard to righteousness. holiness. and sanctification.

Some observable characteristics of occult bondage and influence are:

• Feelings of isolation
• Deep, deep confusion
• Hatred of God
• Out-at-Body experiences
• Feelings of accusation against others and one's self
• Distrust of God
• Unable to sleep,
• night torment, night terror
• Division makers and trouble makers
• Hostility. aggression, and conflict
• Fear
• Fear of authority
• Obsessions
• Fear of relationships
• Inability to hear God's voice
• Impatience
• Falling asleep in church
• Control of others
• Falling asleep while reading the Bible
• Suspicion
• Rebellion
• Frustration
• Stubbornness
• Insanity
• Disobedience to God's Word...chronic activities
• Depression
• Losing interest in attending church and
• reading God's Word
• Oppression
• Tormenting thoughts
• Inability to develop a prayer relationship with God
• Certain types of pain, especially in relationship to the central nervous system

Conclusion: Occultism always offers itself as the real thing from God, when in fact, the real thing is hidden and obscure.

43. Motive

Matt 11: 7-9 7, As they departed, Jesus began to say to the multitudes concerning John: “What did you go out into the wilderness to see? A reed shaken by the wind? 8, “But what did you go out to see? A man clothed in soft garments? Indeed, those who wear soft clothing are in kings’ houses. 9 “But what did you go out to see? A prophet? Yes, I say to you, and more than a prophet.”

What did you go out to see? Did you go to receive a word or to be wowed. Is it the he man or does the package offend you. What are your expectations? Why are you here?

John 6:26 26, “Jesus answered them and said, “Most assuredly, I say to you, you seek Me, not because you saw the signs, but because you ate of the loaves and were filled.”

You just want the blessing and benefit.

1 John 5:14-15 14, ”Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. 15,” And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him.”

These motives can be a hindrance to healing because many times we ask God amiss and we want to be healed, so we can go on eating the foods that cause illness. Will we change our lives, our eating and nutrition?

Sometimes or motive is self glory. I told the John Lake story about a man who heard a crippled boy lost and crying out on the mountain. This man made sure no one was looking and ran over and healed him before anyone could see it was him and then took of before anyone could attach his name to the miracle.

45. Not Honoring Parents

Not honoring your parents usually indicated unforgiveness towards them or events they did to you. the word is very strong about honoring. Some who read this have been abused, and so there is a way to honor them but not be in a line of fire. http://writteninspirations.blogspot.com/2005/06/how-to-honor-your-parents-if-they.html

Old Testament Scriptures

Exodus 20:12 Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.

Exodus 21:27 And he that curseth his father, or his mother, shall surely be put to death.

Leviticus 20:9 For every one that curseth his father or his mother shall be surely put to death: he hath cursed his father or his mother; his blood shall be upon him.

Deuteronomy 5:16 Honor thy father and thy mother, as the LORD thy God hath commanded thee; that thy days may be prolonged, and that it may go well with thee, in the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.

Proverbs 1:8, 9 My son, hear the instruction of thy father, and forsake not the law of thy mother: For they shall be an ornament of grace unto thy head, and chains about thy neck.

Proverbs 30:17 The eye that mocketh at his father, and despiseth to obey his mother, the ravens of the valley shall pick it out, and the young eagles shall eat it.

New Testament Scriptures:

Matthew 15:4 For God commanded, saying, Honour thy father and mother: and, He that curseth father or mother, let him die the death.

Matthew 19:19 Honour thy father and thy mother: and, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.

Mark 7:10 For Moses said, Honour thy father and thy mother; and, Whoso curseth father or mother, let him die the death:

Mark 10:19 Thou knowest the commandments, Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Defraud not, Honour thy father and mother.

Luke 18:20 Thou knowest the commandments, Do not commit adultery, Do not kill, Do not steal, Do not bear false witness, Honour thy father and thy mother.

Ephesians 6:1-3 Children, obey your parents in the Lord: for this is right. Honour thy father and mother; which is the first commandment with promise; That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth.

I Peter 2:17 Honour all men. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honour the king.

The word is very clear if we honor we will be given long life if we don't then a short life.

46. Envy/Jealousy

What exactly is envy," you might be asking yourself. Envy is when you feel a strong desire for or when you are jealous of someone's possessions, opportunities, or physical appearance. Stop for a moment and recall a time when you have been envious or jealous. How did it make you feel? Did you feel frustrated, maybe a little angry?

Jealousy and envy are like wild animals that never get enough to eat. If you allow envy to take root in your heart you will never feel satisfied with anything in your life. Instead, you will find yourself always pining after more or longing for what others have. You could even become like Mrs. Dinsmore and be a source of trouble in the lives of those around you, as well as your own!

The Bible tells us that an attitude of envy is of the devil! Read for yourself what James 3: 14-18 has to say:

"But if you harbor bitter envy and selfish ambition in your hearts, do not boast about it or deny the truth. Such "wisdom" does not come down from heaven but is earthly, unspiritual, of the devil. For where you have envy and selfish ambition, there you find disorder and every evil practice. But the wisdom that comes from heaven is first of all pure; then peace-loving, considerate, submissive, full of mercy and good fruit, impartial and sincere. Peacemakers who sow in peace raise a harvest of righteousness."

From this passage we learn that heavenly wisdom is just the opposite of envy and jealousy. When we possess heavenly wisdom we begin to adopt a pure heart, including an attitude of being peace-loving, submissive, sincere and much more! Elsie had the wisdom that came from heaven. She had a pure heart and sought God's favor and righteousness in her life.

Our hearts and minds are at peace when we strive to keep ourselves from the trap of jealousy. And we aren't blinded by always wanting "more." Instead we begin to praise God for all the wonderful things He has blessed us with, and we are able to rejoice with others in their times of blessing!

Diseases:

As seen in Proverbs 14:30 jealousy is compared to such a serious illness: “Jealousy is like bone cancer.”

Osteoporosis - Bitterness, envy and jealousy. Controlling nature and comes from an evil root of matriarchal leadership in the home.

Here's how envy and jealousy stack up:

ENVY

Feelings of inferiority
Longing
Resentment of circumstances
Ill will towards envied person often accompanied by guilt about these feelings
Motivation to improve
Desire to possess the attractive rival's qualities
Disapproval of feelings

JEALOUSY

Fear of loss
Suspicion or anger about betrayal
Low self-esteem and sadness over loss
Uncertainty and loneliness
Fear of losing an important person to an attractive other
Distrust

The effects of bitter envying" can be disastrous to the spiritual well-being of God's people.

A. Envy is the cause of many divisions and leads to discord among the brethren. It also results in confusion and turmoil.

Acts 13:45; 14:45; 17:5
James 3:16
2 Corinthians 12:20

B. It disrupts the bond of peace and leads to much contention and fighting.

James 4:1-2

C. Besides spiritually affecting one's personal walk (Psalms 73:2-3), having a heart of envy can lead to actually physically hurting others as well.

1. Example: Cain and Abel.

Genesis 4:5-7 with 1 John 3:12

envy ---> anger (vv.5-6) ---> murder (v.8)

2. Example: Saul and David.

1 Samuel 18:7-9, etc.

envy and hatred (w. 9, 29) ---> attempted murder (chapters 18:11, 25; 19:10; 20:31; 23:14)

3. Example: Joseph's brothers.

Genesis 37:4-5, 11, etc.

envy (v. 11) ---> hatred (w. 4-5) ---> ill-speaking (v. 4) ---> conspiracy
to kill (v. 18) ---> kidnapping (w. 26-28) ---> lying (v. 32)

4. Example: parable of the laborers in the field.

Matthew 20:1-16

envy (w. 10, 12) ---> murmuring (v. 11)

Popularity or attention.

1. David and Saul.

1 Samuel 18:7-9

2. Joseph and his brethren.

Genesis 37:34, 23

3. The prodigal son.

Luke 15: 29-30

4. The Jews, as a reaction to the acceptance of Paul's message.

Acts 13:44-45

Another's income or pay.

Matthew 20:10-13, etc.

47. Accusation

Gossip, slander, strife is a form of accusation. Satan is the accuser and he wants you to accuse others and even blame others or find fault or to accuse. When someone falsely accuses you, do you immediately want to accuse back or do you do what the word says and bless your enemies, forgive and move on instead of becoming one with their sin?

When we blame, we are not taking responsibility for our own lives. There may be things that happened to you in your life that perhaps caused your situation today, but it's time NOW to stop blaming and accusing, forgive and move forward. In this segment, it talks of accusations toward God. Blaming Him for our situation. This is something many dont' think they do, but if you have ANY disappointments, regrets, wishes and dreams unfulfilled, I can only assume that you have accusations toward God you are not even aware of.
